FAQs
What age should I get my cat desexed?
Cats can get pregnant from as early as 16 weeks of age – that’s right kittens can have kittens! Talk to our friendly team during their kitten vaccinations about early desexing!
Is my cat allowed outdoors?
Under Casey Council regulations, all cats must be confined within their owner’s property boundaries. This can be achieved by keeping your cat indoors at all times, or if your cat is accustomed to outdoor time, by installing a fully enclosed cat run or cat netting/ocelot fencing alongside your existing fencing. These options allow your cat to safely enjoy the outdoors while ensuring compliance with local regulations.
Why is my cat suddenly avoiding the litter box or straining to urinate?
There could be a number of reasons including stress, a dirty box, or something more serious like a UTI or blockage. Straining to urinate is a very serious and potentially life-threatening issue. If you notice symptoms please call us straight away to see if a visit is a must!
My cat vomits up hairballs - is this normal?
It’s completely normal for cats to ingest some hair during their daily grooming, which can sometimes lead to hairballs. These hairballs can get trapped in their system, and vomiting is their way of getting rid of them. To help reduce the frequency of hairball vomiting, we recommend brushing your cat at least three times a week and feeding them a high-fibre dry kibble as part of their diet. However, if your cat is vomiting more than once every few days, it’s a good idea to speak with one of our vets to rule out any underlying issues.
