Cat & Kitten Vaccinations
Why Is It Important To Vaccinate Your Cat?
Kittens and adult cats face threats from various infectious diseases, many of which are easily transmissible. Indoor cats can also encounter harmful viruses through brief interactions with other cats or contaminated surfaces. Core viruses can lead to lasting health issues and may be fatal, especially in unvaccinated cats or those with weakened immune systems. Vaccinating your cat is crucial for their health and helps prevent the spread of illness. Additionally, boarding facilities require current vaccinations for entry.
What We Vaccinate Against
At Vets in Endeavour Hills, we provide core cat vaccinations against the following serious viruses:
- Feline Panleukopenia Virus:
- Feline Herpes Virus: This infection affects the upper respiratory tract and eyes, producing chronic flu-like symptoms that can resurface during times of stress.
- Feline Calicivirus: A highly contagious virus targeting the upper respiratory system and eyes, leading to painful ulcers in the mouth, tongue, and respiratory tract, alongside fever and swollen eyes. All strains can be lethal for kittens, while virulent strains pose significant threats to adult cats.
Additional Vaccination for Outdoor Cats:
For outdoor cats, we recommend vaccination against Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). This virus compromises the immune system, leading to chronic health complications, including flu-like symptoms, dental disease, and poor coat quality. Cats with FIV typically have shorter life spans due to increased susceptibility to various diseases. FIV is primarily transmitted through bites from infected cats.
Vaccination Schedule
Vaccination Schedule for Kittens:
To ensure your cat receives optimal protection with a comprehensive feline vaccination plan, we recommend the following kitten vaccination schedule:
First vaccination
6–8 weeks old
Second vaccination
10–12 weeks old
Third vaccinations
14-16 weeks old
Annual Vaccinations:
After your cat has completed the first series of vaccinations, annual boosters are necessary to maintain their immunity..
FIV Vaccination Schedule:
Your feline friend will need a series of three boosters administered two weeks apart. It’s important to finish the vaccination course before they start venturing outdoors. While the vaccine offers strong protection, it’s not 100% effective, so testing may be recommended if your cat has been involved in a fight.
Please note that Manningham Council now has a 24-hour cat curfew, requiring all cats to be confined within your property boundary at all times.

Have taken both of my dogs here since they were puppiesPosted on Serena “Samillow” De JongTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have many lovely things to say about this clinic but I'll start by saying, I never fully settled on a family vet. Because I am particular but after this traumatic week I am settled on them and will take my other pets here from here on out, and here's why; My dog (2 years old), woke a few days ago in immense pain and was taken to an emergency vet who offered possibly the worst ever care I've experienced. When she awoke the following morning significantly worse it was recommended to me by a family member to call here, (Whilst we had visited here before we weren't completely settled on this clinic) So, I contacted them immediately they managed to squeeze my baby in for immediate care despite not having an appointment. They admitted her in for imaging and called me with an update later in the day. Once we came back in we were given the unfortunate and shocking (not only to us but the vet aswell) news that she was not well at all and we were facing a grim outcome. You never expect to hear this especially in a dog of 2 years old. I of course was absolutely hysterical but Dr. Nina was so gentle, patient and understanding. She gave us all the time we needed, even waiting until my Dad arrived to move forward with anything. Nothing was rushed and everything was truely peaceful for my little angels last moments. Nursing staff were also incredibly caring and gentle. You won't understand until you're in this predicament, but this level of care, at the end of the day, is what will make or break you. I do not think I would be able to function at this moment without the care and support we received from this clinic. Thank you guys, for taking care of my baby in her last moments, thank you for taking care of us all. ❤️ Rest in peace Little Edie ❤️Posted on J STrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Absolutely amazing in every way. We had to put my dog down and they waited after they closed so my whole family to come and say goodbye. Could not speak higher of them, thank you so muchVerified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
